saffron walden family have 29 school teams for Tag Rugby.

The saffron Walden family tournament took place on Wednesday 17th October 2012. This year the schools entered even more teams -29 teams! On 8 pitches this was going to be an enormous event. Fortunately the County High school young leaders were all prepared to run the whole event. The students were trained to either be lines men or referees. There were 9 rounds for the 5 different groups. Each team were playing a round robin competition which meant that each team had 5 matches over the afternoon.

The standard was extremely high – especially group A and B. The matches were very tight.

The results of the groups were –

Winners of group A –Radwinter   Runners –up St Thomas More

Winners of group B- Great Sampford Runners-up RAB B

Winners of group C-St Thomas More B Runners-up RAB C

Winners of group D- Great Sampford 2 Runners-up RAB E

Winners of group E – St Marys B Runner-up RAB H

Once the matches had been finished there were 2 further matches to be played. On Pitch 1 Radwinter played Great Sampford . And to find out third place St Thomas more played RAB B.

The results were as follows –Radwinter the overall winners, Great Sampford second, third place was St Thomas More with RAB B finishing fourth. The top three teams will be playing in the partnership event next Wednesday at the Rugby ground at Henham.
