A celebration of the olympics and Paralympics by key stage 2 performing gymnastics and dance

Key stage 2 gym and dance production illustrating the values of the Olympics and Paralympics.

Uttlesford school sport partnership held their 5th production and for the first time it was held at Helena Romanes school in Dunmow. The hall was packed with parents and the show was a full 80 minutes of high quality gymnastics and dance.

The show was demonstrating the theme of the Olympics. There were 18 performances from a large variety of schools in the partnership. Radwinter school opened the show with a wonderful showcase of gymnastics. The year 3, 4, 5 and 6 class .The students all performed carrying flags from around the world. The gymnastics that followed was performed by Henham and Ugley, Great Dunmow, St Marys and Katherine Semar. The gymnastic performances included some sports acrobatics, partner work and individual skills using music from around the world.

This was then followed by Helena Romanes secondary school opening the dance section of the performance. The show was then followed by RAB year 3 and 4 school performing a great dance number illustrating very British music and some very exciting fast moving dance steps. This was followed by St Thomas More upbeat number performing with a variety of hoops, ribbons and balls. Manuden school then performed an Indian cultural dance illustrating a tribal story. Dances from around the world continued with Felsted and Stebbing performing American Line dancing and some fantastic traditional Irish dance steps. Great Easton, Little Hallingbury and Katherine Semar followed one another with a variety of American music.

Great Dunmow and St Mary’s Dunmow completed the primary school numbers with some exciting street dance which was then followed by the secondary school girls. It was great for the primary school boys and girls to see what they aspire to once they move to their future secondary school.

The dance and gymnastic production was complete for another year illustrating dances from around the world and illustrating many of the Olympic values including personal excellence, Inspiration and determination by each individual.
