Jackie Coleman the School Games organiser for uttlesford would like to extend huge congratulations to Henham and Ugley school our first ever School to receive the new Games Mark Platinum Award.
The Platinum Award was launched earlier this year as an extension of the School Games Mark to reward schools who have maintained consistently high standards with their school sport provision. As part of the extended application the eligible candidates, who had achieved five successive gold awards, were asked to submit a detailed case study along with a supporting paragraph from their School Games Organiser (SGO).
In the country there were 104 winning schools .Henham received a special plaque to commemorate their achievement and will be entered into a draw to win a surprise presentation visit from a celebrity guest.
Congratulations to Henham this is fantastic!
Nearly 200 children from six of our primary schools took part in this year’s striking and fielding skills session. They participated in a variety of different activities led by year 9 students from Forest Hall School.
Our KS1 dance festival took place recently with children from eight reception, year 1 and year 2 classes performing their fantastic dances. These included dinosaurs, builders, cats, planets, Mexican and salsa dancers, and round the world travellers!
As a result of schools on teacher training we have unfortunately had to change the dates of some of the USSP events.
Emails to all schools have gone out, however please ensure that you have entered for the new events!
As a result of the new Level 3 competitions we also have included two new USSP events.

Mon 23rd May – Three Tees at S/W Cricket Club 12.30 – 3pm
Fri 17th June – Year 5 & 6 Tennis orange balls
Mon 6th June – Cheerleading at Dunmow cheerleading centre Timings tbc
Fri 15th July Year 2 Talent Camp at Dame Bradbury’s School 9.15 – 3pm.
On Wednesday 20th January 2016 the Stansted schools had their annual indoor sports hall athletics.
The competition was very tight. The students had a fantastic morning of sport with Henham and Ugley primary school winning, they will now represent the Stansted schools in the final.

USSP’s first ever Golf Tournament went down a storm, nine schools took part and all thoroughly enjoyed the day.
The winning team was Elsenham, Howe Green finished second five shots behind.

The USSP Rounders event took place on Wednesday 10th June 2015.
The event was the largest team competition that has been held by the partnership.
There were 28 teams. The teams played all day with many very close matches.

The Stansted family held their boys cricket event on Wednesday 3rd June at Stansted cricket ground. The event had superb weather.
There were 7 teams playing for 2 places to go through to the final 8 in Uttlesford.
The final results were -7th -Birchanger 6th-St Marys 5th Manuden joint 3rd Little Hallingbury and Henham, Joint finalists – Howe Green and Bentfield . These two teams go through to the finals at Saffron Walden cricket ground on Wednesday 17th June 2015. (Pictures below)
This years Talent Camp has been outstanding, your children have worked both enthusiastically and with some great perseverance skills.
On Wednesday we had great effort from everyone in SAQ, Gaelic Football and Handball.
In SAQ I would like to recognise Flo Walter and Gabriel Mason.
Handball – Danny Siddle and Tally Miles.
In the afternoon we did the Sports Tests. Unfortunately no student this year has broken any of the Uttlesford records.
However can we congratulate:
Elliott Woods for 76 speed bounces in 30 sec.
Oliver Rogers for standing broad jump with a score of 2.08m and 80cm in the vertical jump.
Illinois run – Gabriel Mason for 17.23sec Henry Wiseman for 42 catches on the Tennis ball challenge and Finn/Joe who got 3000 in the 12min run.
Thursday was an outstanding day at Lee Valley, the students worked very hard and well, a pleasure to be with. Congratulations goes to Talia Kimber for a fantastic hurdle technique.
On the final day we had to change the activities due to the rain. Those have been Badminton, Fitness and Cricket bowling. Niamh Davies and Joseph Gaffan has shown an outstanding work ethic in Fitness. In Badminton Jack Frings was inspiring. In Cricket our 2 superstars were Ryan Cox and Talia Kimber.

It was held at Forest Hall Secondary School, the three schools that attended were –
St Marys Hatfield Broad Oak, Manuden and Bentfield Primary school.
